I’ve known Sri Prahlad and listened to his music for most of my life. He is a gifted song-writer, singer and composer as comfortable in kirtan and mantra music as he is in rock and reggae. His melodies are intoxicating and his voice is full of deep yearning to connect with the divine. The only thing better than hearing his CDs is being in his kirtan in person. We are all blessed to have this musician on this planet at this time.

Kirtan with Sri Prahlada was a delightful and soulful experience. He holds the space beautifully, and creates an ambience that invites kirtan newcomers and seasoned chanters alike to participate in the call and response. Supported by an amazing line-up of talented musicians, Sri Prahlada’s kirtan takes you to new heights of bliss!

Sri Prahlada is a master of building that feeling of connection. In one kirtan he guided just the men to chant together, then just the women together. We repeated this several times, building the energy, until at last we joined together to sing as one. Pure bliss! Spiritual stories were artfully woven between the kirtans, keeping the flow going while settling the energy, and allowing us to develop a deeper appreciation of the yoga tradition underpinning the practice of kirtan.

We had been looking forward to having Sri prahlada at Kensington for six months and he didn’t disappoint. Some were up and dancing from the first song and by the end the crowd of 100 yoga students was jumping with joy. It was a wonderful community experience and a great way to introduce the power of mantra, sung and danced with joy.

As Sri Prahlada began to play the harmonium and chant, I saw many of the yogis break their meditation and open their eyes in astonishment. Others closed their eyes and began swaying to the beautiful melodious kirtan. Within 30 minutes practically everyone was dancing in transcendental ecstasy.

I’ve been listening to Sri Prahlada since I was 12. At the time he was also a 12 year-old boy, with a definite talent for leading large crowds in spiritual chanting. Today, he still sings with the same skill, passion, and devotion. Sri Prahlada’s mantra chanting, interspersed with narrations of ancient Vedic history, awards deep transcendental experience. He skillfully unlocks the secret of the mantras, which confers spiritual understanding and transcendental illumination in the hearts of all present.
